The worry is difficult to control and affects day to-day activities and relationships. The symptoms include excessive worry which is difficult to control, restlessness, fatigue, poor concentration, irritability, muscle tension, insomnia, marked distress and impairment in normal functioning. Around 18% of Indian population is estimated to be suffering from GAD at some point in their life with prevalence rate ranging from 3% to 6 % according to Indian Psychiatric Society.
